Subject: Power surge protection

Southern NJ
Curious what others do for building and home surge protection?
Still not 100 percent sure what happened but somehow we had a power surge at the farm and farm house. So far we've found it damaged the stove, dryer, heater, well, Milwaukee chargers and anything with electronics that was plugged in.
When I noticed the charger not working I tested the outlets in the pole barn and they read 240volts. Not long after they were back to reading 120v.
Electric company changed out the transformer and haven't had any issues since but trying to be extra careful and protect against anything in the future. Also reworked all the connections.
Online shows all sorts of options but I was looking to see what other farms do if anything. Possibly something at each panel.
