Subject: RE: worth planting beans into dust?

Several years ago we had a dry spring. Corn went I to moisture but by mid bean planting time we were really dry, no moisture in the ground till about 3" deep & no rain in the forecast. Most guys quit planting beans & waited for a rain. After talking to a good friend that was ~ 20 yrs older than me I went ahead & planted my beans about 1" deep. Got a good rain about 10 days later. By the time the ground dried out enough for everybody else to go mine were up. Don't recall what they made so evidently weren't a disaster.
