I haven't welded for quite some time but I don't recall the stinger ever getting hot.  This morning I did a tiny bit of welding with 6013 on a mower deck.  It wasn't prolonged and I only used 3 rods.  Weld a little, move, weld a little.  Stop, look at the holes in the deck, change temp etc.

What might be wrong to cause the stinger to get hot?  75 amps DC nothing changed from last use except running a lot less amps than previous weld.
