West Texas | My wife was similar to yours could not handle one line of pain meds and also allergic to tape.
All the hospitals that we went to had colored wrist bands to alert the staff to an allergy. I remember her having 3 or 4 bands on her arm for various items. While I could not be by her side in surgry we always had someone with her after surgry to be sure the right meds were given. We caught issues several times over the years and not sure how someone alone would have managed. They never admit to a mistake but as a patient you can fire the nurse or doctor that attends to you during your stay. We did this a couple times for nurses.
