Southeast Colorado | Everyone is entitled to their opinion obviously...........but I'm not really convinced of your concept.
The corn belt is good at growing corn, and has been doing it a long time. Therefore, not much room for expansion there. Most of the expansion of corn acres has come from outside that belt. And a BIG chunk of that belt is not 180 bushel corn country. And it doesn't need 180 bpa to be profitable. In fact............planting populations and fertilizing for those kind of yields many times leads to burned up corn. There's a lot of area outside the corn belt that can make good money if they consistently shoot for 125-150 bpa corn. My area is a notch below that. But we don't really count much in the overall scheme. Areas like Kansas, western NE, and the Dakotas are what it's all about.
That's my story. | |
