We never have much luck getting any usefulness out of phosphorus that isn't worked into the soil.  Even good rains don't seem to give us much benefit from top-dressed phosphorus applications.   Maybe things are different in your part of the world.

We can get good benefit from top-dressed potash... provided we get good rains to move the potash into the soil.   But even with potash, beneficial outcome is still more consistent with potash that is worked into the soil.   But again.... maybe things are different on your farm compared to ours.

good luck,

gordon

Hey Gordon we probably will not get much use out of the P this year but hoping on our low CEC soils the K and Sulfur are quickly available (when and if the rains come)
We are working with all spring applied dry applied on growing crops V2+ size "hoping" to keep most of the N,K,and Sulfur available to the crop
easier to apply dry fert (P+K) in the fall more time but don't think we are doing as much good
our next round of soil tests I plan on doing some 0-2",normal 0-6" samples and then 6-15" to check for striation
we have done such different depth samples in the past on 40 year NT or at most VT tillage soils suprisingly have not seen striation even on P
Most suprising to me has been the Ph change in the 7-15" samples we started at 4.7 Ph on most any subsoil sample --long term NT seeing 6-6.8 Ph in the subsoils
