EC SD | In 2019, I had about 3/4 of my corn and soybean acres go to prevent-plant. The planted acres were just the hill tops here and there wherever accessible from the field entrances. I had one field where the entirety of the road ditches and both field entrances were under water (along with a lot of places on the road and fields) until July. Drain tiles didn't have the capacity needed to be effective that Spring. It was the last couple days of July before I could even get into the fields to plant a cover crop and the weeds were 8 feet tall in places. Some of those acres are still having weed challenges today!
I am not sure how the planting progress reports handle a situation where a large percentage of acres go from "behind", to "late", to "prevented"....
ND's progress numbers look really low for late May, but hopefully they will get a chance to make progress this week yet...
