You would be surprised at how "decent" some of the bad wheat is. Lots of hit and miss areas where it came back from grazing but was too late to make wheat.
When prices are good, it's not uncommon for big lots to hide cattle on grass for higher beef prices and or lower feed costs. When they play that game, they really don't care if they gain much.
