I have used the waste lime from the DSM Water Works with relative success. Synagro has the contract, if you take it during the summer its practically free. Comes a little wet and chunky, I spread it out and let the sun bake it, pack down every so often. When you scrape clean the next year it's easy to see.

Be aware this can have a very high arsenic content depending on the water source and local geology. I can’t get it regionally because it must be landfilled.

+1 also starting ot find PFA's in it some places up here, I have used shale screenings and they packed tightn almost as good as concrete, but if you need a source for them, much better then the lime screenings I use sometimes.
