See if you can find some well-used steel road plates for sale locally and buy a half dozen. They can be moved around easily and last forever, and resale value is solid. Can be had surprisingly cheap if you watch Facebook/Craigslist closely. (Not practical if you need a whole lot of surface area.)
Alternatively, you have to muck out and lay down stone for concrete base anyway. Go ahead and get your stone pad in and if you ever want to pour there, just scrape the top clean and do it.
