I still have bad memorys of the 1989 wheat harvest. This year is setting up a lot like that year. With todays crop insurance not much incentive to try very hard . The wheat was taller in 1989 than this year foot tall wheat diisapears in weeds pretty fast. Will the wheat tour even consider the abandoned acres or just look at the better wheat?
I doubt that the tour will factor harvest conditions into their guess.. it’s a group of buyers so I doubt they’ll say too much other than the obvious..

deflationary environment.. Fed still on the war path.. funds short in Chicago wheat by 1.25 x the soft wheat crop.. Black Sea deal.. or not?
so who knows..?? it wouldn’t surprise me if we rally KC on the tour this week then sell the fact off into harvest.. flip side.. when the actual crop comes in.. if prices do not stay at this level.. producers have NO incentive to spray it.. and harvest such a poor crop.. it’s gonna be real tight with more wheat in storage on March 1st than what’s coming.. the neighbor just got 25% of his sown acres released yesterday.. from 0.1 to 6 bu.. so he’s gonna kill that.
it’s still a fluid situation..
