There are certain insecticides/fungicides you can apply in furrow but in my opinion, especially on the fungicide part, they aren’t as good at getting the key diseases as what you can get on the seed. If you are thinking the seed treatment is too expensive I think you might have to shop around and look at the active ingredients you are getting because there are pretty big price differences between sellers.
