At one time the BTO's in this valley were a second-generation Italian family, 4 brothers that each had 4-5 kids. One son of each took over & ran the operation for years. Farmed about 1000 acres including apple orchards, about 10,000 acres on the mountain, sheep & cattle, feedlot. Chemical & fertilizer business for a while. When the 4 "old men" started dying the siblings that never worked a day on the farm started claiming a share...one of the cousins that worked his whole life on the place told me "When the vultures got done pickin', there was nothing left..." Most of the farm is sold off & planted to houses now. Absolute failure in estate planning...
