Nw Iowa
I think this situation is way beyond sitting down at Thanksgiving. A attorney that sounds like he doesn’t know what he is doing. I believe sister even wanted tax paid on her assets so her cash would be equal to his assets. Don’t know them but has been quite a saga as I have read posts last 6 months. I would let him vent, there are two sides but sounds like it has been a very painful process.
I think it is very common for some of siblings to leave the farm, son or daughter stayed home and helped Mom and Dad to all of their benefits because of work and ability of the younger generation and suddenly off farm heir wants what is “fair”. I have seen other side where the farming heir has received a gravy train and that still isn’t enough. So every family different.
