NW Missouri | I guess it's all about what you're using. A high speed 24 row with all the goodies being pulled by a brand new tractor would be worth more than an 8 row box planter being pulled by a 30 year old tractor. But at $25 (which seems to line up with the median Iowa State rates linked above) I'm charging $200-$250 an hour which is what I can hire a good operator to come run a dozer or excavator for. Planting corn, to me, damn sure shouldn't cost more per hour than dozer or an excavator work. Maybe if I had a half million dollar setup, I'd think different.
If you can get $45 an acre, more power to you. If I charged that, I wouldn't be doing any custom work. | |
