I've used a wall paper steamer, to remove glue from a very old linoleum fooring. Let the steam heat, an dissolve the glue, then use a shop vac to suck up the water an dissolved glue. Have to work fast at vacuuming it up, as the glue will harden quickly as it begins to cool. Also helps to have a hand pump up garden sprayer, to spray over it, an then vacuum it up, as a final clean up. Takes a little time, but gets it done.
