| I'm purchasing some calves from 300 to 550 pounds. I'm new to doing this. I will be feeding them out for butcher. Small batches up to 10 head. Buying some in the next week or two. What do you typically feed them to start? I have access to pasture as well, plenty for this number. Do I fatten them up on pasture and pail feed some grain? Or just grain feed them from the start?
I do also have an older feed grinder and will be getting a self feeder. Can I put them in pasture and have some grain in the self feeder or wait for the self feeder come fall and winter?
