I'm not talking about a bag of big seed corn planted in a row next to a row of small seed corn.
I'm talking about a mixture of small rounds, medium flats, big flats and big rounds all planted in the same row. A small round planted 7" from a big round that is 4x the size of the small seed.
The high yield guys that are pushing for even emergence (everything coming up within 12-24 hrs of each other) and actually going out and flagging corn with different color flags (to mark when they emerged) are likely going to tell you that having different size seed mixed together does matter.
I don't think there's any way that it couldn't matter if you're actually looking for even emergence with a fine enough comb.
