North Mississippi Delta / Alabama Gulf Coast | I had a lot of experience interviewing potential employees in my job pre-retirement.
Sometimes it’s easy to see a shy young man with little work history would make a good employee. They have a ‘aurora’ around them same as the goof balls only theirs is a good one.
Listening to the interviewer and thinking about a truthful answer without the bull*hit is a must.
Mentioning he worked for you in the shop and how he liked mechanic work might get a reference call to you.
Side note.
A past employee that applied numerous times to a local Police Dept used me as a personal reference many years ago.
I got a call from a Sgt asking personal questions that I could not answer as legally, date of hire and if eligible for rehire are about all that can be said. He pressed me but I couldn’t say anything.
He finally asked me if he was an Officer patrolling my area at night, would I feel safe?
He didn’t get the job. |
