Iowa
Hard to say. You’re missing 16% of the plants, so you’ll be short less than that on yield. Is there anything coming in the other row? Lots of times it may have been shallow, but catch a rain and it gets started - just behind. If I’m taking a wild guess I’d say 5-10% loss. Would have been ok if it was spike stage to fill back in, but at 5 inch tall corn I’m afraid you’ll do more damage than it’s worth.

If it was me and there’s nothing coming in that row at all, and I could find a 1 row 3pt planter, I’d probably fill it in just for weed control. Hybrid makes a difference too. I was involved in a plot where a guy was trying skip row corn (30k on 60 inch rows, so equivalent of 60 k in row). He played with multiple configurations and with the right hybrid there was no yield loss, with wrong one it was a train wreck. At 60k in row, a poor rabbit had to find a skip to get through the row! In that case a fixed ear helped, flex hurt, I’d think this would be the opposite.
