Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Yes, with certain Deutsch connectors it is possible to connect them a "half" turn off. The tracks are supposed to prevent this but on some colors the opposite corners are used. One with a wide track and another with a narrow track. With a little extra force they can be mated so the wide ridge goes into the narrow track. No problem with the narrow ridge going into the wide track.
The Deutsch connectors that Ag Leader uses with some of their modules have a large block protruding from the side that needs to mate with a large notch on the mate. This makes it very obvious which way the plugs should be inserted.
When I made cables where this could be a problem, I drew a single line with a magic marker on both the male and female connectors on one side and two lines with the marker on the other side to help remind the installer of the correct alignment.
