Malta, Illinois | In general Illinois has been somewhat dry but that isn't a bad thing in the spring. There were some scattered heavy rains in a few places last week but not big coverage. Planting conditions were dry but also quite nice. Most corn is emerged and looks great and soybeans are beginning to emerge. There is decent subsoil moisture but topsoil is kind of dry in places. We will need periodic rain but things are off to a nice start. | |
