Spring 04 was warm and dry with quick planting progress. But that summer was such an abnormality with good rainfall and cool weather from above average cold fronts going thought. This meant cool and sunny. Sort of the perfect year from central IA south.
2014 is the analogue year I am watching. Dry enough to worry about getting enough rainfall but enough to make a good crop.
