S Illinois
The Sept 74 cold snap cut production by 5%. But late planting put the corn behind that year. 83 was similar with late panting and then heat and dryness doing more damage. Really hasn’t been a normal planting pace year get affected by frost in recent history. 09 maybe the closest but slow planting and then an exceptionally cool summer allowed for some frost damage further north.

With corn planting earlier by a week to 10 days compared to years gone by and shorter season hybrids being able to hold their own against fuller season hybrids allowing for shorter maturity corn to be planted, frost fears aren’t nearly the issue it was 40 years ago.
