Not even low interest. The biggest draw of govt backed mortgages was longer terms, fixed rates, and lower down payments. Private mortgages were nothing like a 20% down fixed rate 30 year term.

House prices may drop a little. Maybe even rent drop a little. I don't see significant overall deflation. The people thinking prices will "come back down" are going to be mad and wanting a raise soon. I can see this lasting another few years easily.
