sw ontario
This is not a sympathy or sorry for me post its just kinda funny how some on mkt. talk want a drought to "raise prices" or talk of how cheap grains and oil seeds have become and end users should be buyers.
Hog guys have been burning through a lot of cash since Christmas , probably averaging a $30 per head loss . Smithfields is liquidating 200,000 sows.Quebec packer lost nearly $400 mil. past 2 yrs. and Quebec is cutting back a million hogs a yr. Ontario short 25,000 hog hooks per week.
If EV's take hold like gov'ts want the ethanol gravy train may be leaving the station.
Everybody just seem to talk grain and oil seeds but farming is much bigger than just that.
Cash croppers have had there best run ever the past dozen yrs., will it continue , idk.
We crop and have livestock so I do see both sides
