One thing about that SD land is that a weather pattern
Shift which allowed the shift to more corn and beans.
Years ago, as I can remember that more crops were
Oats wheat barley and hay.
I remember as a yong-un the family visited some distant
Relation in SD during summer harvest season.
I got my 1st experience with Flax by climbing into a wagon
Of harvested Flax seed - just like jumping into
A pool of water and sinking till your feet hit the floor.
Well- I digress.
Having the opportunity in the '80's to spend some additional
time in SD, I came to the realization that the rain pattern
allowed for better Growing conditions of corn and beans,
thus making Cropland more valuable.
I'm sure some here can attest to whether my memory
and observations are correct.
Correct me if need be.
