I’m not sure if mine is called hyper-sensitive cough, but I usually get a coughing fit at least once a day, often to the point of almost throwing up. It is triggered by minor things, such as smells, getting a tiny amount of shampoo up my nose (that brings it on violently). If it’s really bad, I need to first go through the worst part of coughing and then suck on a cough drop or drink very cold water and suck on the ice. The cold helps get rid of the mucous that builds up during the cough. Sometimes allergy meds, taken first thing in the morning, have helped. Flonase helped very well for a few weeks, but not so much after that. During the mask mandates with Covid, it happened much more often when people were disinfecting everything- I would smell it strongly through my mask and start coughing BAD.
Did you write this from my situation? Almost fits to a T. I'm going to have to try the ice cube trick, though. |
