Subject: RE: Franklin water valves

Iowa's Half Breed Tract
Actually Hawkeye Steel has an upgraded Franklin valve. However if you'd like to try something with a brass base they will have the VP2 valve which would be a 3/4 brass base, and 1/4 orifice which is what I recommend for low pressure, part number should be VP221. If on the VP221 you're having trouble with it shutting off you can get either a 1/8 or 3/32 orifice. I will include a couple links to their parts. You'll want to go with the shortest float are which is VA225P and the float, IIRC OP284, as well as the thumb screw VP115 I think. They also have an updated version of the Franklin Valve which they call the Monticello Valve, kind of a long story behind it but it does a couple things differently, for low water pressure you'll want the VM150 which has everything included, it is the 3/4 base with a .45 orifice. The other Monticello Valve offering is VM250 which is the 3/4 base and 1/4 orifice, however, it is the big round float which a float arm you cut to your desired length, it will make more sense in the picture. Also the good part is you can mix and match valves and float arms/floats.
