I’ve always believed tipping should not be necessary. The restaurant owner should pay and charge accordingly. I know it is an American thing.

That said, I always tip in CASH. I very seldom pay for meals with plastic….probably wouldn’t run out of fingers on one hand in a decade. Even when bill paid with plastic the tip is still cash. Even during Covid I had no one refuse a cash tip.

To answer your specific question…….I would go down the street before I paid a tip in advance…or privately let manager know your concerns and decide from that.
