I think it cycled the pump but opened both valves so nothing moved. 12volt was back feeding the controller. Diode is easy to add, it has to do with fact that controller is made to run actuators and they reverse polarity when I want it to act as a three way switch. Not DC electric expert I know enough about 120 controls I could figure it out. If you wire that controller with diodes same as the wired it will work.
