Many people don't want to change.
Having bad information/advice makes it that much harder for them to have the incentive to change because it is easy to justify what they are currently doing by finding evidence that supports their current eating habbits. When official recomendations in what we eat shows a sugary breakfast ceral as healthier for breakfast than eggs and bacon, there is no hope for them to change.
