Subject: Changing hydraulic oil in John Deere 8400 and screen cleanout

Having issues removing the pipe where the "hydraulic oil suction screen" line goes into the differential. The book says to remove the whole pipe to access the filter.

I have removed the flanges that hold the pipe on the lower end and it came apart no problem, O Ring and all. I was able to get the snap ring off the other end where it goes into the diff case. It was difficult and I wonder if this pipe has ever been off to clean the screen.

However, now I can't get the pipe to come out of the case. I have tried a pipe wrench and tapping it in an attempt to break it free. But I am not getting anywhere, and before I do any damage I am looking for advice.

Am I missing something or any good ideas on a way to get it out?
