Pittsburg, Kansas | I mixed long lasting and regular for part of the later day injection.
I took shots 4 times a day. 3 with meals and one before bed time with the long acting.
I never used the fast acting. Instead tried to take the shot half hour or a little more before meals.
Meat causing kidney problems is an old wives tale (based on flawed mouse studies). Many have had improvement in kidney function not only on a low carb diet, but even on carnivore. Only people that might have to watch is stage 4 kidney failure. My kidneys improved significantly. No more kidney lower back pain. Blood tests are fine.
My experience is that the medical side likes to prescribe pills. The nutritionist I dealt with gave terrible advice for a diabetic. Hospitals provide crap for food to diabetics. They basically don't have a clue, either by ignorance or intention. Been there done that recently when hospitalized for a motorcycle/deer accident. All sorts of sugary food they brought. Wife said I would not eat it, I only ate the meat portion. Doctor told her he could not believe how quickly I recovered from both brain bleeding and lung bleeding. I have no memory of any of it because of my concussion, but so they tell me.
Look up Dr Bernstein for some good advice for diabetics. He being a type I and living to the age he has, must know something.

I wish I would have known about this doctor 35 years ago when first diagnosed being diabetic. Could have saved myself a lot of health problems.
