Franklinton, LA | There are numerous ways to prepare oysters or use them in seafood dishes. For over 40 years I have fished in the saltwater marsh around Pointe Aux Chenes. This is about 20 miles south of Houma, LA. It is interesting to watch the local people take a morning break from fishing, pulling a shrimp trawl or running their crab traps. They will pull up close to the bank and use a boat paddle to loosen the oysters in the bed. They will reach overboard and pick the oysters up off the bottom. They shuck the oysters for their morning snack. | |
