NW Iowa | We have a 5'X6' triple pane Andersen window in the north wall of the kitchen that has been there for a good 40 years maybe more. Andersen was making triple pane windows in that time span then I think the triple pane design was dropped for awhile. Correct me if I am wrong. The temp in the room is not much cooler by this window than it is by an interior wall. I have never tested it with a thermometer, I should though. When a zero degree wind is blasting at this window I can't feel any extra coolness compared to a calm zero degree day. Proper window installation and outer wall tightness is very important to how much cold the window keeps out.
There is a little hole factory drilled in the center glass of this window. Maybe the new triple panes won't have that hole so each window chamber is on it's own? | |
