Local respectable mechanic here always said on the 855 bc models to keep the exhaust temp below 1,200 degrees and you shouldn't have any temp related problems. He would also say keeping the exhaust temp below 1,100 is being easy on it. I don't think the exhaust temperature is a problem. Any 855 bc we had, never went past 1,100 degrees even when they were producing more than factory hp and we never had a problem with any of them. Again, I don't think the exhaust temp is a problem. If you have a lot of hours on the motor maybe the piston just failed. That does happen.
