I've had similar thoughts. From what I've learned by looking at Detroit vs. non Detroit trucks, a donor 8V truck would be helpful. That would get you a radiator, engine mounts, rear engine plate, air compressor and other little parts to put on a 12V from an industrial application. Don't forget Jake Brakes.

Don't let these guys talk you out of it! I really would like to build or buy something similar for the cool factor. Watch the 'Ol2Stroker' channel if you like Detroits in Peterbilt trucks.
