Absolutely, constitutional rights are never absolute, the founding fathers could never have predicted modern technology and the laws they wrote don't apply to our modern society. We should have strict regulation and licensing for journalists */2. Unless of course they're willing to write with a feather pen or chalk, and print with hand set type.

Comparing countries is not terribly useful, even comparing states without context. WY or Alaska are not the same as MA or CT or CA. WY or AK are similar to the northwest territories of Canada, much of the south and inner cities are more similar to Liberia, Sierra Leone, MA is more similar to UK than to WY. The parts of CA relevant to this thread are similar to indochina. I'm fine with comparing the US to other countries, but we're going back a century to get the full picture. I'll take the US over the last century any day.
