Eating at home has gotten a helluva lot more expensive too, and saying that as somebody who has half a beef in the freezer, plus part of the last couple hogs I helped a friend butcher, some deer, a whole bunch of canned vegetables from our garden, etc.

We do a lot of these things just for satisfaction and quality, but if you legitimately paid yourself $20/hour for gardening, butchering, canning, barbecuing, freezing, etc. I'm not sure how much you can really claim to save by cooking at home either.
