Texas | Buy dirt to farm. You need to buy until whatever the current rent would be is enough for you to live on. The dirt will appreciate over time so if you need rent from 500 acres to live on today, you need to own 500 by retirement age.
I’ve had a 401K for 15 years and always put 15% or more in it from full time job. I also have a Roth IRA I put $100 a month in for I don’t recall how long now.
But I could sell my homestead 150 acres +\- for more today than what’s in those accounts combined and I haven’t owned it but 25% of the time.
Really makes a guy second guess the 401K. I could make a payment on 100 acres 15 year note for what I contribute to mine. | |
