I grew up cooking on gas and then for 10 years after college had electric......I hated it.  Our home has a Jenn-Air gas cooktop.  I don't really care for the cooktop itself as the layout is a bit cramped but I love the responsiveness of gas.  My parents put an induction in few years ago.  They had been electric as for a while.  They think the induction is the best of both worlds.
