When I was a kid the local Legion always had a slum feast in the fall, all the good stuff beef, potatoes, celery, corn, peas, green beans and some kind of a spice that gave it a kick, they would bring around more in a bucket with a ladel, with buns to soak the juice up ,of course their wives made pies. The World War I vets usually spent the day cooking it with a couple of WW II vets, think that maybe some of what they were drinking might have made it into the slum to give it more flavor | |
