Milford, IL | I removed the anode rod from a water heater to help with the smell. Bought a house (to live in) in 2006, water heater failed a week later. New (el cheapo menards) water heater made the hot water smell bad so I removed the rod, no more smell. Water heater was still working when I sold the house this February 2022.
Strangely, I replaced the water heater in our current home last year and left the rod in, no bad smell. | |
