We have progressed from a 500/EZSteer to FMX/EZPilot to TMX2050/NAV on the planting tractor. Our last free form was with the 500 setup on contour strips in NE Ohio. While these are certainly not NE contours, I would think you would be ahead to record and then rename curves for each variation within your fields. We redid our boundaries and guidance lines when switching to the TMX because it was our first RTK display. Curves included many paused sections.
Two years ago we transferred them to Precision IQ within the display and unlocked it to NextSwath. I am still not proficient at new boundaries, headlands and guidance line options in PIQ. With the very accurate measurements our 12 row planter tracks very well except on the very tightest curves. In fact we’ve split planted soybeans and you would be hard pressed to tell they aren’t planted with 15”. Note that currently NextSwath end row turning can not be used on curved AB lines. We do not have implement guidance.
If you are making the move from a Trimble FMX to GFX series then there is no FMX+ option. If you buy a used GFX with CAN steering unlock and your FMX is running a Trimble valve (rather than tractor CAN) with you will want to confirm with a dealer the cost of unlocking to full Autopilot. There apparently are several different versions of CAN unlock for NAV900 so the AP upgrade part number varies. We learned this when a friend purchased a GFX from AgTalk classifieds. Sent the serial number to our dealer to confirm upgrade cost (~$1600) before the display was purchased.
