Wisconsin | The condensation inside an engine will drip to the bottom of the oil and not come back out, it will be gone the first time the engine is worked. In the days of high sulfur diesel, the Total Base Neutralization was very important in a diesel oil, and was the main thing checked if you sent in an oil sample. Since ULSD, it's much less important because there's so much less acid in the exhaust, and much less soot also. I'd let the oil go 2 years easily, 4 if you trust the filter or change it at 2 years. Heck, get the high efficiency filter with synthetic media and go 4 years. The filter leaking is the most likely thing that will fail with a combine running the oil on hours and disregarding the years. | |
