No you don’t need to. Used oil analysis will tell you what you need to know.

Dad is always worried about “acid” eating the bearings. The thing is engine oil is very basic and you would have to have major contamination to change the oil to acid, it’s basically not possible. I’ve never had any amount of water in the oil when I change the oil in the spring after it sits over winter according to the used oil analysis.

It’s easy for me to remember 250hr intervals so that’s what I use. Seems like most engines we have start drinking oil around that mark anyways.
