Subject: The age old….”what oil do you run” question

I’ve always ran CaseIH oil in my tractors and combine. I’ve seen the discussions from time to time about other brands being run. It’s finally hitting hard at my wallet to consider switching. My combine and a couple tractors, I’ve been running full synthetic in (DEF) on those engines. My pre DEF tractors have been 15-40.

Years ago I ran Cenex oils in my first tractors, 30+ years ago, very pre DEF era. Never had an issue. For some reason as I was able to afford newer models, I bought into running “their” oil in the tractors, especially with DEF engines that a service tech that I trust recommended full synthetic.

I picked up a 2.5 jug ( full synthetic, Case IH from dealership) yesterday just for emergency purposes……..$43 ish/ gal. Really makes me wonder about other brands of oil.

I know there are other things I could consider…..getting a bulk tote, buying on their sale days in the spring. I usually stock up on filters and oil ( 5 gal pails) during that time.

Tell me your opinion of other oil suppliers…thanks.
