Winkler, Manitoba Canada | As New Holland continues to discontinue or price parts in such a way that they are not attractive, we keep trying to make the machine run reliably and economically. The small high speed pulley for the chopper is a good example. This pulley tends to wear fairly quickly and needs to be replaced from time to time. It also serves as the hub for the larger slow speed pulley that we use in corn.
As we had worn out two of the small pulleys over the years, this year we installed a taper lock pulley for the high speed drive. Pulleys are readily available and cheap compared to the last price New Holland had or a custom made pulley. How ever this necessitated a change for the low speed pulley which is a bit of an odd size, so not available in the aftermarket generic world. Spent the day machining a hub to install it with a taper lock arrangement as well.
