SW Wisconsin | In case anybody was wondering, or runs across this issue in the future: I ended up asking around at World Dairy Expo, and somebody got back to me with the numbers from the one cow that showed up as 9.9% for 3 months (11.83, 11.52, 10.04) but the only way to get those at this point is to contact the lab directly. It appears that numbers over 9.9% are truncated to 9.9% for calculating lactation totals, because the CDCB only has the capability to process 2 digits.
If anybody from the CDCB sees this and wants to let me know how and when this is going to be fixed that would be great. I'll be contacting you, too. This is a rare, minor issue now, but I'm confident that it will be a much more common issue in coming years. I promise to never ask for a third digit before the decimal. | |
